What started as a Mexican food restaurant in 1976 is now Taco Works, Inc., a wholesale tortilla chip manufacturer in San Luis Obispo, California.
Cal Poly grad Ty Bayly began making tortilla chips in his Taco Works restaurant, using customer feedback to fine tune the recipe over time. What started as an experiment became an obsession, and the Taco Works original seasoning was born.
Demand for the chips soon exceeded the production capacity of his restaurant, so Ty took the leap to build his own tortilla chip factory from the ground up. The chips became a local staple, and have become something that people associate closely with San Luis Obispo, CA.
In 1988 and beyond, more flavors and styles were added to the product line:
Taco Works Salsa Tortilla Chips... the same chip as the original, with a salsa seasoning
Taco Works Hot Nacho Tortilla Chips... the same chip as the original, with a hot nacho seasoning
Taco Works Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips... the same chip as the original, with a mild nacho seasoning
Montana De Oro Tortilla Chips... a white corn tortilla chip with salt
Taco Works Chili Cheese Corn Chips...a rectangular shaped chip with a chili cheese seasoning
Taco Works Seasoning...our Original seasoning in a 7oz bottle
Today, Taco Works chips are widely available in Central California and in several grocery store chains throughout the state. Distribution is gradually expanding into Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Arizona. We appreciate your support of our business and welcome your comments and suggestions.
